Another milestone for Mariveles


CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has finally signed Republic Act 11288, “An act of increasing the bed capacity of the Mariveles Mental Hospital in Mariveles, Bataan from five hundred beds to seven hundred beds, upgrading its services, to include the operation of a level 1 General Ward with one hundred bed capacity, to be known as the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital and appropriating funds therefor,” last April 12 of this year.
Said law is a consolidation of House Bill No. 8449 authored by Bataan 2nd District Representative, Jose Enrique Garcia III and Senate Bill 2062 of Sen, Joseph Victor Ejercito.
The purpose of the law is to expand its medical services towards the increasing number of patients. The funding for the expanded operation of the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital shall be included in the Annual General Appropriations Act (GAA). The Department of Health (DOH) is mandated to issue the implementing rules and regulations of the Republic Act .
